About the University of California, Irvine
The University of California’s Irvine campus was founded in 1965 and derived its name from the Irvine Company that donated 1,000 acres of land for a single dollar! This Southern California campus is located in the heart of Orange County, about 36 miles south of Los Angeles. Visitors to this campus can take advantage of the favorable weather and the close proximity to several beaches, including Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, and Huntington Beach. Nature lovers can indulge in a walk through the thickly-wooded trees of Aldrich Park, located at the heart of campus. The campus is also conveniently located within driving distance to the Irvine Spectrum, the Disneyland Resort, and Knott’s Berry Farm.
